The examples they showed in the link look quite compelling.

Yeah, I didn't see any real specs as to how much loss of light there is with the filter, but in several shots where the filter was mounted on a lens, you can see through it, so the loss of light shouldn't be more then a 1.5 stops, similar to a polarizer maybe. That would be my one concern is that with some IR filters you are losing so much light it's hard to shoot since all of the exposures end up being 10+ secs long.

Hmmm, sounds very cool if it works well. The IR filter is so dark it's hard to use.

Looks cool. On an IR converted camera it could be especially compelling, but as you say, if you can see through it on live view on the camera it is not going to present too big of a problem. The orange foliage with blue skies is very nice.

Make sure you pick a lens that does not have IR hot spotting to get the best results I would think. Of course, I am a newbie myself. I got a nice 580nm IR filter form Kolari Vision for Christmas that I plan to shoot on my astro modified T2i. Have not gotten around to it yet.

I just read the article closer and I found that I missed a very important fact... that the filter will only work on a camera that has had the sensor converted to full spectrum. So... that means you still have to get the camera converted first... so that will be a stumbling block for me.
