Some of you know I document the Wild Horses outside of Vegas in the Wheeler Pass HMA. This is my busy time up there, as it is foaling season. 1st new baby on the mountain, unfortunately momma doesn't look too great. I hope we get some more rain & get some forage growing on this side of the mountain. As you can see mom is pretty thin. This is the part of documenting that breaks my heart. If she doesn't fatten up they may be removed from the range, and put in holding until the baby is weened and then separated & put up for adoption. If the mom is determined by the BLM vet to be in organ failure, then they will shoot her & the baby will go to foster until ready for adoption.
