Morning light is my favorite time of day to shoot although naked skies can detract from the experience. I slapped on a long lens and generally avoided the expansive views of the Painted Hills that would include the uninteresting sky and let me focus on the contrasts of the shadows.

    C&C always welcome.

The neat thing about painted hills aside from the great color texture is the smoothness of the surface. Very well shown here.

I see the yellow flowers back there at the base of the hills. Are they starting to grow in the gullies on the hills? That is really pretty when they do.

Very nice Alan. That's a good job to eliminate the blue sky.

It's funny that my preferred time is in the evening because it feels like the soft light lasts longer. Not sure if it's just in my mind, but I have always found the morning light to turn to harsh light very quickly.

    I'd rather have some clouds.

    Thanks Ben.

Yes they are blooming up the little gullies. There are probably a lot more now than last week when I shot this.

I have to agree with the light but morning is when I can best shoot. My camera is back in it's bag by evening most days anymore.
