In December I got to watch a stunning show of reds and purple in a sunrise at Harris Beach State Park near Brookings. As the colors faded to a light orange and yellows the clouds shifted around an a secondary color show closer to the horizon appeared. I kept shooting and got some really nice cloud contrasts and reflections. For those wondering exactly where this is there is a low range of mountains visible between the sea stacks and then again farther south from the last big stack on the right. These are the mountains just above and south of Crescent City that contain the Del Norte Redwoods.

    C&C always welcome.

This is really nice Alan, that rock outcrop lower left makes a nice anchor. The colors are subtle but very pleasing.

A nice view Alan. That is a very cool area to explore and shoot. Some of the color in the sky has a bit of an odd feel to it. It's hard to describe, but the large color area around the sea stack on the right the orange coloring has a milky look or texture to it. I have seen it in my photos a few times when I pushed something too much, it's been a while though I don't recall what it was I had done to get that look.

Thanks - I just went back to the SOOC to check that area carefully and it's not far off of the odd effect I was getting in the cloud layers. There is no direct sunlight in the scene and the cloud layers are reflecting the sunrise colors from off to the far right. The sun is behind the dark clouds on the left. The result was eye catching which is why I kept shooting and zooming in on this effect. I have a bunch more from where this came from.
