you can't. unless your fb and ig accounts are linked and set up to share all posts from fb at which point you can upload to ig by uploading to fb (i think that's how that feature works..). but ig is phone/tablet based uploads only.

Yeah, I found it insane to be honest that for as big as Instagram is, that it basically forces a person to use a phone or tablet. It's really mind boggling.

I looked into this a year or so ago as I was thinking of posting our Daily Featured Posts onto Instagram to help advertise FocalWorld there to help draw in new members. To which I haven't done anything other then setting up a FocalWorld IG account as I just don't have the time to manage that too. (If anyone wants to volunteer to help with this, please let me know)

But, I did find there was some work arounds so you can full Instagram into thinking you are on a mobile device even though you are on a computer. Here is a link to one, and it's pretty easy to do. It's just you would have to use the Chrome Browser on your PC.

I signed up with Instagram a few weeks ago, and it was so prohibitive and un-intuitive. Once I found out I couldn't use it from my desktop AND they cropped all my images, I was out of there in a minute. Yeah, I tried that work-around by simulating my iPhone but it sucked and a pain in the ass. What a colossal waste of bandwidth.

you can uncrop your photos in landscape format but for some stupid reason they still crop off part of your photos in portrait format.

i still have an ig account, but rarely use it. i found it doesn't really matter what you post, you can get more followers by following other people. and most interaction is just people liking every image they see rather than any meaningful discussion.

I was recently told about an app that will allow you to post an uncropped version of your photo. It's called Square Fit. But it definitely adds a lot of distracting white to sides. I really enjoy Instagram. As a Mac user, it's really easy just to Airdrop the photo to my phone and then post it. Anyways, I'd just thought I'd share the app incase anyone wanted to give it a shot.

Here is an example of what it does to your photo.

That's kind of been my take on it too unfortunately. It all kind of comes down to a popularity contest.

That's a solution. Not perfect as you say, but it certainly would help.

Not really an acceptable one. Simply adding a background color to a square format that your image fits into is just shrinking your image. Can do that in PS or LR in a minute. And as far as likes, who need 'em?
