I joined Joe Kayne at Hubble Trading Post in October before we went to Farmington, NM to shoot aerial images of Shiprock. So I got to see some of his subjects and they agreed to let me photograph them. Here are two of them. The boy's name is Zeke, a Navajo, and he made all of the garments and accessories he as wearing. He is a senior in high school and is trying to convince his tribe not to forgo their culture by traveling the reservation and giving presentations. The girl's name is Mikaela, a Hopi. She won the miss Hopi contest two years running (2017-2018 and 2018-2019). She speaks four languages: Hopi, Navajo, Apache, and English, goes to college at Fort Lewis College and is as sweet as can be. She is wearing the traditional maiden hairdo with the "biscuits" on the side.
