Remember I live at the same latitude as Southern Alaska. Just before Christmas I saw snowdrop shoots and now the first crocus flowers. crocus stack.jpg

Seems more than slightly premature for those guys. They look healthy and so does the grass.

This image was a 4 shot focus stack Nikon 70-200 @170mm f4.5. Today is warm (for January) low 40s F with no wind and almost 100% humidity good for plant photography. I really should have trimmed a few of the blades of grass especially the oof one placed horizontally behind the croci and used a touch of fill in flash. The Nikon 70-200 is not at its sharpest when focusing close although it is sharp at mid to far. Ken

Thank you very much for the featured post. I went out today with a pair of scissors, Tamron 24-70 mm and a bicycle headlamp, my neighbours must think that I am a little crazy kneeling in the grass trimming it with kitchen scissors, taking multiple photographs of tiny flowers whilst pointing a light at them. stack2.jpg

I actually prefer the first. It has a glow to it that I find really appealing.
