This was taken at sunrise. This is shortly before the sun hit the mountains, I have a couple later shots with some drama on the peaks but the sky was best earlier.

This is so much nicer than the way it looked when we visited earlier in the week. Great sunrise.

I'm guessing, having not see your others, that this light is the best, without the superbright peak tops that blow everything away. Really a nice image, Ben, with that very interesting foreground the the iconic range looking so good.

Thanks Jeffrey, yes the colors later are good if you catch the first blush on the peak, but by then the sky is less interesting.

Great job, Ben, Love this. All the components -sky, mountains and foreground- are perfectly aligned and the contrast between those are superb!

Jumping in late to the party to say how nice this is. That light right before full sun starts hitting things really is special. The sky colors along with the patches of bright trees, and the subtle water reflections, all make this a special image! Love it! looks like a really great place to shoot from for sure.

Thanks ML. This does have a great view of the peaks and allows them to really stand out.

That's a great scene Ben, in every respect, as others have mentioned: the astonishing, soft sky, the mountains and the leading foreground. It's a new classic.
