The Focus this Friday is on Waves!

What comes to mind is Waves at the ocean, but I know some lakes can get Waves. A big Plus to anyone who comes up with a non Ocean Wave.

I will start with a few of mine,

    Jim

Here are a couple of my favorite wave shots:

    1) Surf at Bowling Ball Beach

    2) Waves at Garrapata

And in the category of waves that aren't in an ocean, here are some small waves swamping a swimmer in the Dead Sea...

Great shots, but the last one made me laugh out loud Kyle!

That last one would make for a good Caption Thread.

I had to go all the way back to 2013 to find any waves. This is Tenaya Lake in Yosemite. We stopped here to shoot a few on our way into the park. The date of arrival was Sept. 30, 2013. The next day, the park was closed due to the government shutdown of 2013, a brief affair by Trumpian standards. They let us stay the night but we had to leave the next morning. Our Plan B was San Francisco which I hadn't visited since 1968 (in a whole different capacity).

Being a land locked Coloradan and going mostly to deserts & mountains, I had to stretch to find a wave (besides The Wave & things named after it I mean). Aldeyjarfoss in Iceland creates a standing wave at its base.

In case it isn't obvious, that's me... We were warned not to get the water in our eyes or mouth. It was windy which gave us waves. It was hard work not letting my head go under water.

    This is really cool Monika!

But.... it's also clear that you need to come and make a visit to our awesome SoCal beaches and get some photos of some real waves! :)

Lately, I started to learn hoe to catch a wave in a relative slow speed. This is one of my favorite.

    Wow Ben, that is dramatic!

It was very fun watching these boys play in the waves at Rialto Beach in Olympic National Park (cool water keeps most of the adults on the beach).

Another evening at Rialto Beach, playing tag with the waves running in and out with my new 14mm lens.
