This will be our Fall Color headquarters!

It's our first fall color together as FocalWorld, so it will be to me even more special then normal. :)

The purpose of this thread is as follows:

1. Use this thread to post any links to fall color updates.

2. Share where you are going and when so we can meet up when possible.

3. Post quick iPhone/smart phone photos when you are out shooting fall color to help update others on the actual conditions. Maps and guides are great but even a simple snapshot on your phone shared here allows others to visually see the conditions.

4. This thread isn't for your finished post processed photos. Please start your own individual threads with those.

If I missed anything please make a comment so I can add it to this.

Thanks everyone!

Jim

I will add Instagram as a tool to see current conditions. Due to its member size and participation, you can almost lookup any location via hashtag and see several if not hundreds or thousands of images from recent days.

Nice...it's getting there. I've read the colors are changing a little early this year.

View attachment 1365 Here is a shot from Banff Area - Lake Ohara. Some larch are still green. Most have some colour. Next weekend or now would be peak colour up high.

My sons and I hiking last Saturday on my birthday- I am the old guy.
Thanks for that update Scott! It's nice to see your family, and also the state of the fall colors in the background.

Yeah, I was surprised at how far behind it was. I made a quick ninja trip with my wife. Got some good grizzly shots and a nice sunset at the Grand Prismatic Spring though...

Maroon Bells update on Sunday Sept 24th.

These are from a friend, Sunny.

As you will see from the photos, there is still quite a bit of green. Anyone familiar with Maroon Bells knows that there is the smaller middle section that turns color first and becomes yellow while the majority of the trees turn color after that. So to me it looks like Maroon Bells is still good colorwise for another 4 days or so.
