Technically, I think she was supposed to be a Fairy, and she did look like one. But my very first impression of her was that she had butterfly wings on, so I am sticking with that. :)

This was last Sunday night at La Jolla in San Diego. The tide was about perfect, and there was a great opening in the clouds along the horizon that made for picture perfect sunset colors.

    All comments are welcome,

Neat shot with the sun coming through the fabric. It does almost look like fairy wings. Nice sunset colors for the scene.

Was this some kind of photo shoot for another photographer you got to poach from? The lady acts like she is specifically posing for the camera(s).

Yeah, they are definitely Fairy wings, she was dressed in a white short dress also.

When I first saw her, I didn't even see another photographer shooting her. So there was no poaching involved, some how that word makes it sound like my photographing her was bad or illegal. I was simply photographing someone on the beach in my mind. :) From what I could see after a few minutes is there was a guy closer in to shore that was sitting on some rocks with an small LED panel and a camera. So I am guessing she had been modeling for him earlier? But at this point he wasn't shooting, she was simply dancing around along the edge of the reef. It was really cool to see someone just feeling liberated and moving to the beat of the ocean, and it certainly added a different element to my beach photos then I would normally get.

Man, you could not have done better had she been a paid model because it looks so free and innocent. The colors and sun shaded wings are just great.

Thanks Ben! Yeah, she was just so free and innocent looking there. I am thinking after this though that I need to find a friend who will do the same with those translucent wings, because it was really so cool to see her just dancing there, and I would like to repeat it at some point.

Wonderful! You took good advantage of all the elements you found. It would be interesting to compare this great shot to what the other photog got - I'll bet this one might take the prize.

This is a spectacular image, Jim. Everything is perfect: the wave, the light, the pose, and the composition. WOW!!!
