Finally found these Sculptures. Been to Anza Borrego a few times looking for the Ram Sculptures so last night we have gone back to to shoot the Milkyway with a few friends and viola!
I should have just use my 24 - 70 mm lens when I went to Monument Valley. I used my Rikonon shooting the Milky Way and my shots we're mostly out of focused.

Very nice Lenny! For some reason this statues have never done anything for me, probably because I don’t like mammas objects in my landscapes but these actually look pretty cool. I like how you positioned the Milky Way.

I think I would leave this silhouetted, I don’t think more detail on the Rams would add to this.

I think it’s time you scrapped that Rokinon 14mm. You need a new 14mm that you can focus with at night. This Rams shot looks good with the 24mm, but the huge disadvantage is having to shoot such a short shutter speed which then increases your ISO which in turn increases your noise.

Nice result, and a unique framing idea. I agree that leaving the statues in silhouette is best I would think.

I am also using a Rokinon lens as my night lens currently, but it is the 24 f/1.4. I find it to be not too hard to focus at night, but i also know (having previously owned the Rokinon 14mm) that a 14mm focal length is harder to manually focus at night, as everything is just so small. But 24mm is not really quite wide enough for a lot of nightscapes either. The excellent Sigma 14mm f/1.8 AF capable lens that Jim shoots at night is on my list, although I may see if they come out with an RF version at some point as i currently also plan to swap over to the RF system at some point in the next year once the new R bodies come out.

I love my 5DSr for landscape, but it is not the best performer at night.
