Yesterday turned out to be a good day to be out along the beach for the sunrise. I had the beach all to myself with no footprints in the sand other than my own and as it turned out an almost nuclear sunrise color show.

The Photographer's Ephemeris showed an excellent alignment on this stretch of beach and the sun angle and as it turned out I got a great color show to go along with the conditions. This is actually at the tail end of what I would call the Good Stuff(TM) which I want to save for more careful edits on my monitor at home but it still shows a good sample of the sunrise colors.

    C&C always welcome.

Wow Alan, if this is the tail end not so carefully edited, I can't wait to see the others. I have to ask, how do you use the Ephemeris for this application? Do you want to be at right angles to the rising sun? It looks to me like you are facing mostly south, or at least south west.

The early shots almost make this shot seem drab :)

TPE as a web application allows me to dial up the date/time and then I place the stick pin where I think I want to shoot from. This stretch of beach is on a NW-SE alignment. A picture is worth 1K words. The stick pin is where I was standing for the shot.

My campsite is up and to the right of the beach.

Thanks Alan,, great info and this is one beach I have not visited, or knew about. Port Orford is usually my southernmost destination.
