    Hike into Coal Mine Canyon

My wife was a bit hesitant about descending into the canyon, but the ropes set up on the initial steep slope helped. A wonderful day all by ourselves, with these nice clouds in the morning.

    Friday’s Focus - Canyons - 2019/08/09

Sorry for the delay in starting our Focus, I am in the road. The Focus this Friday is on Canyon’s. So please add your Canyon photos to this thread. I will start off with a photo that I took this morning from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. To be different, this won’t show the Canyon but is...

    Black Canyon Milky Way

I need to have Tim come and give me cool names for my photos like he does for his. :) This is from last month in the Black Canyon. Amy came by and met me about midnight I think to shoot the Milky Way, but this was from before she got there while the Milky Way was lower in the sky. It's a 3...

Chowing Down at the Royal Gorge

This is from a few mornings ago at the Royal Gorge in Colorado. It's a gorge and not a canyon, and it's pretty impressive. It's well known for the bridge that crosses it, though my shots of it will be in another thread. It was freezing out at 16 degrees, and oddly there was no one else there...

Bryce is certainly one of the most photogenic locations I have imaged.

Spent 7 days in August at the North Rim and 3 days at Bryce Canyon for the first time. I don't think I have ever photographed any place that is as photogenic as Bryce Canton. It was hard to take a bad picture. Wish I had more time. I am not always the quickest to get my images processed...

    Fjaðrárgljúfur, Iceland

Looking down the canyon you can see the effect of the river of the many years. I've been finding that I struggle a bit with processing the greens in my Iceland photos. I'm not sure what it is but I am never satisfied with the result. Perhaps, I'm over thinking it. I find that the mossy green...

    Coyote Gulch

We spent 3 days in here two falls ago. Dropped into the middle and camped, then a day hiking both up and down stream. Coyote-Gulch_0307 by Jim Dockery posted Feb 19, 2018 at 9:09 AM Coyote-Gulch_0364 by Jim Dockery posted Feb 19, 2018 at 9:09 AM Coyote-Gulch_0207 by Jim Dockery posted Feb...

    Lower Antelope in B&W

After a lot of research I still was conflicted about going to Antelope Canyon. Of course the images I'd seen were beautiful, and a college of mine, Bruce Barnbaum, was one of the first photographers to discover it. Reading about the crowds, $$ for the photo tours, and contsraints to keep with a...
