M13 - My First Cluster

I had another all night imaging session. That camping cot is coming in handy! While waiting on the Crescent Nebula to get high enough to image, I shot my first globular cluster, M13.

This is an hour of shooting LRGB.

I'll post the Crescent when I get it finished.

This looks to be a great technical feat. but it lacks some of the form and color of your other shots. I guess what I am saying is that from the standpoint of an astronomer, it could be of great interest, but not so much as artistic photography. Just my two cents.

This looks cool Andrew. It looks like a sparkler from the 4th of July going off in space. As Ben mentions, it is totally different then the nebula's and such you have been photographing but for that reason I think it's cool. While it may not have the artistic impact of a nebula, I am certainly enjoying it because it looks like a sparkler and because I am getting to see more deep space objects. Keep them coming! :)

That is all true. This is my first time photographing a cluster for that reason. I prefer to view these visually through a scope as it is a neater experience.

Clusters are a different kind of target. I shot my first M13 images for the same reason - waiting for a 'better' target to rise. But I ended up likely the final; result more than I thought I would.

This has great color and detail.
