A bevy of blackbirds

Taken at the Bear River NWR Sunday. I did not see any other yellow headed blackbirds up there. Not very artistic, more of an environmental type shot. I did get one fairly good Red Wing Black bird which I will show at another time.

This is very cool Ben! I like seeing them in their environment. My only surprise was I never realized there was anything but all black black birds. I didn't know there were ones with coloring on their face like that, these are really cool looking.

They are amazing to watch in breeding season and have a wonderful call. I have spent countless morning watching and listening to them.

There is a red wing variant that is quite common around water features in the Phoenix area. We see those up in the NW as well. Very distinctive song.
