    Waterfall Wednesday 2/16/2022

A late addition to the festivities. This is an older pic (last year) of a little known waterfall called John Neal Falls in NC. No path to this one--one has to bushwhack/be able to do off trail navigation. Beautiful fall to me and thus worth the effort.

    Waterfall Wednesday 2/9/2022

Yes, at the second fall it had warmed all the way up to 18 degrees by the time I was there (Hike is about 3 miles round trip and my jeep was the only vehicle in the parking lot early in the morning of this very popular fall). Not sure of the temp for the first pic but it had been around 12...

    Waterfall Wednesday 1/26/2022

A recent visit (Jan. 2) to a new-to-me waterfall called Fairfield Falls in NC. I thought I would try a long exposure on this one (40 seconds). Two-image focus stack, used ND and polarizing filter.

    Snowy sunrise

I really like "The Heat Company" as they have tight fitting gloves that I can use for my camera (and phone as they have a patch on the index finger for screens) and the gloves (they call them liners) fit inside mittens. The mittens open up both for the fingers and thumb if you want to keep the...

    Snowy sunrise

Yesterday morning, I hiked up a nearby mountain to the summit. WInter storm Izzy made quite an impression with snow, sleet, freezing rain, and more snow (our road is still impassable!). There were high winds, it was about 2 degrees with the windchill, and there was about a foot of snow on the...

Really lovely job with this one, Alan. The color is spot on and the shutter speed provides good water movement while preserving detail. Thx for sharing.

    Waterfall Wednesday 11/17/2021

One from a recent visit to one of the more iconic waterfalls in North Carolina. This is Upper Whitewater Falls and, at 411 feet, is listed as the tallest waterfall East of the Mississippi by the US Forest service. This may not be true and it may not be quite 411 feet, but it is a great...

    Waterfall Wednesday 11/3/2021

I promised some pics for WW today. Here are three--all from "Glen Falls" in Highlands, NC. There are three waterfalls in total, but I only shot the first two. The first pic is the view of the first fall from the top, and the next two are the first and second waterfalls of Glen Falls. These...

This morning's sunrise from "Mushroom Rock" in Highlands, NC. I was pretty happy I got up and hiked to this location today.... Horizontal or vertical? www.instagram.com/stephen_ozcomert

    Crabtree Falls, NC

Where we are is not "like" a rainforest, it is a rainforest! The definition of a temperate rainforest requires somethign like 55" of annual rainfall and an average temperature in a certain range. There are portions of several counties in North Carolina (and tiny bits of North GA and South...

    Crabtree Falls, NC

Visited this beauty for the first time recently. Leaves were at or near peak and I was one happy camper. Took a million images, but here is one I liked. Thx for looking! And don't worry, I have a ton more waterfall images for waterfall Wednesday, lol.
