Nestled

Up at Sky Pond in the Rocky Mountain National Park I found these beautiful Columbines nestled in among the rocks surrounding the pond. So I changed my thinking to a more intimate approach as I waited for sunset to arrive.

Neat small scene. The rocks and the lichen are a strong subject by themselves and seem to keep pulling my attention away from the Columbines. I can see some different crops in this frame that could put a lot more emphasis on the Columbines.

Yeah, I hear you. I was going to crop it tighter probably for those reasons. I ended up with a very minimal crop because I kind of liked that single Columbine in the upper left corner.

Up there Columbines are like gold nuggets, it’s what most people are seeking. So even if they are a little camouflaged among the rocks instead of out in an open field, be still feels like you struck gold by finding them.
