Thanks Alan - that was the only fish caught at the lip of the falls while I was onsite, so I'm glad I was ready for it.

The viewing platform is right next to the falls and this is at the near end of them. I'm awful at guessing distance - maybe 15-20 yards?

Thanks Jeffrey - me too. I wanted to make sure I got a close shot of a bear and fish at the lip of the falls, so I stayed relatively tight until I got this one. From then on, any time a bear was fishing from the lip I framed more of the scene. Unfortunately, I wasn't there for any more fish getting caught at this spot (I have some others I'll get to processing later). For the most part, the largest bears were chasing away any bear that tried to fish from the lip while I was there.

This is awesome Kyle! If this was the only shot you got from the trip, it would have been worthwhile! But... I know you also got tons of other sweet shots too. This is as perfect of a shot as one could ask for.

Beautiful Capture Kyle.. Katmai is an amazing place. I was there several years ago my nephew lives in Kodiak .. I assume you were there as well. ? Being so close to large bears was a pretty wild experience. We saw ours near a small river by the lagoon we landed in an then tracked them coming off the beach and heading to the river to fish. Looking forward to seeing more from your trip great job here.

Thanks Dean. I didn't make it to Kodiak. You are right about the experience being that close to so many bears. You never know when one is just going to walk by - including right down the main path through Brooks Camp!
