Thursday's Task - 06/25/2020

I was traveling last week and didn't get this going. How about this week everyone posts an image that won an award, or was published or is your best image. There are a lot of great photographers here and it should be fun to see some of their best images.

Mine is of a White Oak with rime ice covering it.. I am putting up the original, the one that appeared in a Sierra Club Engagement Calendar, and one that appeared on the cover of a biography of Per Norgard a Danish music composer.

Neat images so far. I have never entered my images in contests beyond product placement efforts for limited distribution calendars so not much to offer for this thread.

Yes you do have a lot to offer, Alan. Notice that I included your best photos as well. Please post one of your great images

I'll post two - the first was a highly memorable sunset at Harris Beach from 2018:

The second one is from the fall of 2018 when I wandered up the trail along Sweet Creek Trail on a very smoky day from California wildfires. The resulting haze created an orange glow on the fall leaves down at the bottom of the canyon that was entirely unhealthy to breathe but incredible for colors in the forest. This is a version of this scene I have not posted before although I have posted one from a slightly different viewpoint.

Wow, too many great shots to comment on, but I will say that you gave it a great start Douglas. Very interesting to see the three versions of that beautiful shot.

BITD when I was climbing a lot I had many article and photos published in magazines, catalogues, and calendars. Here are two of my favorites, that I was very proud of. These are B&W versions for web use, the originals are color slides and were published in color.

Spectacular images as usual, Jim. It would be neat to sit down with you and just listen to your climbing stories. I had a good friend who taught at the same college as I did. His name was Mark Powell and he was one of the group of great Yosemite climbers. I used to love to hear how he climbed different routes on El Capitan, Half Dome, and Yosemite Falls. He taught me how to climb but I couldn't handle the heights.
Great set of images everyone. I have never submitted any of my images and this is purely a hobby for me. Hard to pick something as best. That said here is a quick couple.

Thanks Douglas, you were lucky to meet Mark and have him teach you. I don't know him, but he is a legend. That Palouse shot is wonderful Jameel, definitely publishable!
