Alan, I have often tried to capture just such a scene but it was always messy because of the wild growth. This is just what I wanted, I would be very proud of this one.

Well seen and captured Alan. Such scenes tend to be very busy and trying to find a composition that works is often harder than it appears. You did well.

This is so cool. Love the green, and love the order out of chaos.

It’s sweet to see this too as I was at Doug’s this morning and we actually were talking about how much we both enjoyed your rainforest photos. So thanks for feeding us a rainforest photo! :)

Everyone is hitting the nail on the head commenting on the excellent composition here, Alan. As I have always said: "You're the master of creating great compositions in these extremely difficult situations in the Pacific Northwest."

Thanks for the many encouraging comments. I have been in love with the temperate rain forests of the Pacific NW ever since my wife and I first visited the area just over 20 years ago. We moved up here a year later and it took me a good 10 years worth of unworkable captures to figure out how to shoot these forests.

This shooting session was the last day of a trip down to the Mojave Desert area last March that featured chaotic traffic jams in Death Valley as well as Valley of Fire where there were lines of cars waiting for parking spots along the entire length of Mouses Tank Road.

I shot in the forest for several hours on the day of this shot and never saw another person until I drove out. Best tranquility therapy ever after dealing with crowds in the deserts.

I hear you on the tranquility therapy Alan. That's half of what I get out of photography and part of why I normally go solo (even hiking with my wife, she now sits on a Helinox Chair Zero while I shoot).
