Wow - not what I am used to seeing up in the skies. This presents a very different texture than what I would expect.

I don't know where to start Chuck, except to say Wow! All around the sun there are these cool flares popping up. This is totally amazing.

For grins I looked at the Lunt solar scopes. They look very nice. Now you are safely controlling this from a computer screen right? Since I don't have that, I think even though I know the lens would protect my eyes, I think I would be a bit leery of having to manually point my camera with that lens at the sun.

Was this done with video? How many frames?

Jim, it's completely safe to look at the sun through an eyepiece or camera. The filters are made for this purpose. I've been using this scope since 2009 and enjoy every minute of it. They make a finder that attaches on the scope. You can also use the shadow that it cast to line up the scope. You don't use the camera lens at all, you attach the camera directly to the scope. This was a video, I used 200 frames.

Super! Lovely detail throughout, and the prominences are amazing! You should post that detail shot with a scale Earth thrown in so folks can appreciate the scale of what they are looking at :)
