The Skull and Crossbones Nebula

Completely Re-processed this one. NGC2467 is commonly known as the Skull and Crossbones Nebula, and is located in the constellation Puppis about 4400 light years away. To me, this looks more like a huge, colorful butterfly. However, I did find what looks like an alien skull and crossbones when you zoom into the brightest patch of the nebula.

Yep, we should petition a name change for this one to Butterfly Nebula! :)

You have really been knocking it out of the park Carlos, this is really nice and so colorful. I sure like it.

Chris,

Another cool southern sight - I am not as familiar with this one. I agree with your assessment on the name. Love both versions, always fun to see the contrasts between the different color mixes. I am hard pressed to pick a favorite between the 2 - both are very nice!

Chris, nice work on the Skull and Crossbones. I shot it both ways with wide field and with the 9.25. I always called it the southern Elephant trunk. It looks like an elephant to me looking towards the left.
