So this is what happens to the ball of bees from the agricultural board.

The bees discovered.

Bees get cut out of the tree

The bees get put into a box... (And then UPS'd to someone you don't like!).. No, just kidding. The bees then get sealed in while preparations are made.

Box of bees taken to storage shed.

THE NEXT DAY...

A new home is created for the bees. The overnight work was disinfecting and ensuring there are no parasites hiding in there, which could devastate the bees.

More preparation

The home is almost ready.

Now to add a sugar water mixture of some sort. It's a bee attractant. You'll see what the sheet is for in a minute.

Freeing the bees from their overnight slumber....

Shake on out onto the white sheet.

And the bees move into their new home. Somewhere in the mix is the one solitary queen they have been protecting.

It's the march of the bees as they all move in!

And that's where the honey comes from (Eventually)...

Pretty cool - when you say "not too many stings" are you referring to this from your own perspective while shooting this or the bee handlers?

I didn't get stung, but I kept my distance. I think there were a few small stings, but the honeybees in general are pretty gentle. I might have to put a couple hives in my back yard. I can see several in a barn off in the distance.
