Svolvaer Harbor

This was from the last morning of my trip to Lofoten. I had no plans to really shoot that morning. The goal was to have a nice, big, "real" breakfast, buy some souvenirs, and then make the 3 hour drive to the airport. While walking around the harbor in Svolvaer, though, the sky just kept getting nicer. This forced me back to my room to grab my camera and take a few photos. I liked the boats and red buildings in this one, with the mountains in the background along with some decent reflections. I processed this with DXO PureRaw 4 and it really made the reds go nuclear. I had to reduce their saturation in both Lightroom and PhotoShop and I'm still not sure about them - especially on the hull of the boat in the bottom-right.

Any thoughts are welcome.

I can see why you went back to grab your camera and am glad you did - beautiful scene.

Curious about the reds with PR4 from your camera - not something I have seen at all and I have run a lot of images from most of my past cameras through PR4 over the past several months. Hard to argue about the red results however looking at the boat in the lower right along with a couple of other locations in the scene and that's after your efforts to tame them.

This is a scene worthy of running back to the room to get the camera. The Red, White and Blue of this scene is very compelling.

The red on the hull of the boat in the lower right is too nuclear to my eye, I would tone that down quite a bit. There is also a small patch of red on the building in the upper left the 2nd window over on the roof that is jumping out at me.

That's interesting to hear that PureRaw4 made the reds jump like that. I don't think I would have expected that.
