They're, in many ways, more rewarding to find than the big showy ones. That is a delicate and beautiful flower.
Both done, thanks, JameelNice looking flower Monika. A couple of places to clone out - a black dot in the lower third of the image and a little hair jutting out of the flower - will make it perfect.
It was one of those times where I missed it on the way up (looking for the brightly colored calypsos), then on the way back I saw it. After shooting it, I looked around & there were a whole bunch more, deeper in the trees.Tiny little sucker - neat colors.
They're little treasures. This is certainly worthy of settling for Monika!![]()
Thanks, Doug. I was crawling around on my belly, trying to avoid the moose droppings to find the right angle to shoot these from. The patch of Calypsos there are a dinner platter sized patch, so I was disappointed to only find 1 crispy plant. We had a couple of hot spells, which probably toasted them.Nice job with this one, Monika. These are not easy flowers to shoot because they are so little and the flowers are so close together that it is hard to get a good composition. Too bad you didn't get to the Calypso Orchids soon enough. I have always wanted to find a patch of them to photograph. I only have single plants from Flower Pot Island on the Bruce Peninsula of MI
Do you have a photo from past years. I would love to see it if you do.Thanks, Doug. I was crawling around on my belly, trying to avoid the moose droppings to find the right angle to shoot these from. I don't, sorry. I was on a run when I saw them like that, so no gear with me. I wasn't able to get back there for 1 1/2 weeks , so they were gone by then. Maybe next year......Do you have a photo from past years. I would love to see it if you do.
