These large flocks are quite a sight when they take off en masse to find more food.

That second image makes it clear just how many of those birds are hanging out there. Agree with Jim about the need for a (disposable) umbrella.

Sweet set, Jim! I've been in a field hunting when thousands of ducks and geese were flying around and the ground sounded like it was raining!! 
I like 'em all but I'm partial to the 1st, for the bg and wonderful sky.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, some of the pictures you can see bits of stuff in the sky around the birds, some might be mud off their feet, but I'm sure they also just go when they want. I'd try to fly high if I was one of em! I was shooting out the window of a car when the biggest flock flew overhead and we did hear a pretty big plop on the roof.
