Emerald Lake Lodge

My friends had put Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park on their priority list for our trip last week. I wasn't too enthused since the compositions I'd seen focused around the lodge at the lake. It turned out to be a really fun evening traipsing around in the snow and looking for compositions in the blue light.

Any thoughts are welcome.

This is really cool! I do really like this warm/cold contrast, it's very pleasing to the eye. It sounds like a fun little adventure to find the right composition, this one works perfectly. I like the arched reflection with the edges of both sides arching down to each corner.

Love the warm/cool contrasts and light. Inviting scene.
I do wish the lodge wasn't soooo dead center, but I wasn't there to see what options you might, or might not have had. But, this works nicely!

I really like the mood of this one. I must admit that my first thought is about how nice it would be inside of that cabin with a warm cup of something in hand looking at the view. Very inviting.

Classic image of a really nice place, Kyle. Should be on their brochure or in their ad. No, let's make it a magazine cover!

Thanks Barry. I do have other comps and I'll share more when I get a chance to edit them. I get the concern about centering. I ended up being ok with it because the mountains and trees create a nice X leading into the building.

This is beautiful & I think the center comp works fine with this image. I also love the warmth of the lodge with the cool blue of the surrounds.

I agree with Barry. I probably would have put the lodge lower right or right 1/3 (if possible) & featured the mountains more. It makes a great advert for them as is. Nicely developed & the combination of warm & cool tones is beautiful.

Very nice, Kyle. Yoho in the sno(ho) is always lovely, but tha light of the lit up cabin windows and the touch of colour in the trees as well as their reflections are what make this special.
