Alan - You are exactly right! That is dirt that the horse to camera right is kicking up in his haste to beat feet outta there!

Jim - I was using a Tamron 150 - 600mm zoom. My first time using a piece of glass that large. When the horses decided to disagree, things start happening very quickly. Moving that lens around and dialing in the proper focal length took a bit of practice. So, this one was more of a happy accident, as you say! Especially, since they were running flat out!
