2025 was a year! I visited six different countries on four different continents (I include the USA and North America in that figure). The images below represent not only my favorite shots of the year, but also documentation of sorts of where I traveled.

No. 1 - I spent a few days after New Year in Taipei, Taiwan. On my final full day in the country, I walked Elephant Mountain for this view.

No. 2 - My parents and I joined a ranger-led hike in Death Valley National Park in February.

No. 3 - On the road trip to Oregon in late March, I stopped at Lava Beds National Monument (where I earned a speeding ticket by a federal agent).

No. 4 - I visited friends in Portugal and Germany over Easter. This reflection of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin was exactly what I was hoping to see with all the rain.

No. 5 - I acquired a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser this year. This truck allowed me to explore miles of dirt trails and stumble upon breathtaking views like this one from Bald Mountain in Mono County.

No. 6 - I went on a backpacking overnighter with my dad near Bishop, CA, over the summer.

No. 7 - I saw some extraordinary light in the Eastern Sierra this year (what's new?). This was a phone shot after I had finished grocery shopping in Bishop.

No. 8 - I went looking for fall color at Lake Sabrina, and, while I found plenty of it, the sunset I experienced was one of the wildest I've seen since moving here. It featured a beam of light that created a rainbow I had never seen before.

No. 9 - The fall color season in the Eastern Sierra popped! This walk in McGee Creek near Mammoth Lakes was a colorful one.

No. 10 - The trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji was one of the greatest experiences of my life, a saga that was more than five years in the making. The two nights at Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park were my favorite part of the trip because we saw and felt extraordinary things.

There is definitely no moss growing on the undersides of your shoes Michael :) I am finding it hard to isolate favorites with such a wide range of subjects and places but #9 with the fall colors in the Sierra really grabs my attention. Your images from eastern California show some really outstanding light.

A great year for you my friend! I love those warm colors you got in #2, but my favorite has to be #10. It creates a feeling of warmth and well-being. Makes me wish I was there.

Thank you. It felt friendly and welcoming in person. The fact you say the image makes you feel something is an enormous compliment.

What a great set! Lots of wonderful and diverse images from so many cool places. My favorites are #1, #2, #8, and #10:

#1 - A very cool and well executed cityscape shot of a unique skyline. The framing and lighting make this one special.

#2 - A great sky and sunrise? from this iconic location - love it.

#8 - an otherworldly image - looks like something from a science fiction movie :) What a great capture!

#10 - Some iconic locations actually DO live up to the hype. My wife and I also spent a couple days at Uluru - Kata Tjuta NP - it was super special and I got some of my very favorite images from the entire Australia trip there.
