In this year I returned to shooting more grand landscapes and less waterfalls
#1 Dunstanburgh Castle. My wife was visiting a friend near this location so I tagged along just for the walk along the coast plus buying some Craster Kippers. The light and sea swell were an added bonus.

#2 Luskentyre, Isle of Harris. This is a bucket list shot and it was great to get calm warm weather

#3 Callanish Neolithic Standing Stones. The only wet, windy and cloudy day of our trip to the Outer Hebrides and this added some mood and atmosphere to the stones

#4 Mangersta Sea Stacks another bucket list location, I would have liked some swell and may have to return but swell and a decent sunset may be aiming too high

#5 Dolgoch Falls, Wales. I was staying with my daughter in Manchester and a wet and windy day seemed like an ideal opportunity to revisit this waterfall with higher water flow. I may return next Autumn

#6 Elgol, Isle of Skye. I have visited this location many times and have always had sunshine and calm seas and have always wanted some wild weather. This was almost there.

#7 Polney Loch, Perthshire
This was just a scouting trip to see how the Autumn colours were progressing. I stood here for more than an hour as the sunlight crept down the hillside and I waited for it to finally reach the main trees but thick mist blotted out the light before this happened. I still like the soft and gentle image

#8 River Garry at Killiecrankie, Perthshire. Taken later the same morning as the Polney Loch image. Deep in a ravine with very low light levels which allows the backlit beech leaves to shine

#9 Glencoe I have taken this image multiple times and have still to get it right. It is a multi shot stitch at 16mm and is difficult to reach and to get into position without risking a dip into the river. I have now got a 12mm lens which will make this far easier and should allow me to get better compositions from here.

#10 Derwentwater with mist. A wonderful morning for photography with the mist coming and going. I have lost count of the number of times that I have taken images at this location but every time it is different and that is what keeps me coming back.

You did some really nice work this year Ken. I love every one of these images although I am a bit partial towards the deep forest scenes in #5 and #8.

Wonderful set of images and I was looking forward to your post. I love the moodiness in many of these and your ability to create feeling in your photos.

#8 really jumped out for me. Nicely seen and processed.

Wow! You are the 'mood master' with the wonderful weather adding to many of these meticulously composed scenes! After sitting here for minutes arguing with myself over which of #3 or #4 that I pick as my favorite, I call it a tie. #3 is one of the most engaging standing stone images I have seen anywhere, and I love the grand vista of #4, with the perfect composition and exquisite light. #9 is a very wonderful capture worthy of all the effort that went into it I'd say, and the moodiness and 'less is more' approach of 7 and 10 are something too. And then there is #6! A place on my bucket list! Hard to click off of this great set, truly.
