After The Harvest

The area known as The Palouse in eastern Washington is an odd piece of real estate with rolling hills of loess soils left behind by glaciers and unimpacted by the Missoula Floods that left areas to the north of here as bare scablands. The result is rich farmland with interesting contours that attracts photographers like flies when the light is right.

This summer has not been kind for rainfall so I had some awfully dusty conditions to shoot in when I passed through last week but I did still get some interesting images out of a visit to Steptoe Butte.

Some hints of fall:

A wider view of the landscape:

C&C always welcome.

I don't think I have ever seen it this barren. They don't use irrigation there, but perhaps they will need to start doing so.

Love the first best, could make a great abstract, i would fix the cut off trees and bring a bit of contrast in the dark earth...
