A Fireball in the Sky!

I have been wanting to go to the Snowy Range up in Wyoming for years, probably about 40 years. I have driven through Laramie dozens upon dozens of times and never turned off for the Snowy Range. After @MonikaC posted several awesome images from there recently, I decided I had to get there finally. It's actually only about a 2 hour drive from my daughters house in Northern Colorado, so I don't have any excuse really.

Comet C2025 A6 Lemmon is currently out with a really sweet tail. So I wanted another stab at it, plus it was the new moon, and I wanted to get some Milky Way shots, and since it was clear I wanted to also set up my telescope for Deep Space imaging. I ended up not being able to capture any Deep Space Objects with my telescope, I was up on Snowy Pass at just short of 11,000 feet. And while there was just a light wind down below, I had 20mph winds with gusts up into the 30's. So my telescope was being blown around a bit, and I didn't want it to get blown over, so after a couple of hours I disassembled it. So while I wasn't able to capture and galaxies or nebula's, I was able to capture this huge fireball in the Night Sky. :)

But I had 2 cameras out for the Milky Way. I made sure to put extra heavy rocks in the bags that I use to tie down my Tripods so that they don't get blown over or bounced around by the wind. Both of them caught this little surprise guest, so that was awesome!

The night sky was a bit crazy on Tuesday night, besides the wind, the sky really had a bunch of strange colors in it. The timelapse should look very psychedelic. :)

It would have been nice if this meteor was a little higher in the frame, but I won't complain, I am just glad to have captured this fireball!

And to top it off, Monika was also in the Snowy Range that night, and she new where I was at and came by to see me for a few minutes in the morning as I was wrapping things up. It was great to catch up with her for a few minutes.

The aliens have arrived :) Interesting how it seems to have a tail at each end. Sounds like an eventful night that was likely a bit on the cool side with the light snow cover combined with the winds.
