2 From 1st Beach, Olympic National Park

So last year my wife and I had a combo trip of an AK cruise, followed by a whirlwind trip to 3 national parks in WA. The weather on the cruise was quite disappointing, with virtually no shore sightings at all during the cruise. But things started to clear off when we got back to land and started into the WA part of the trip.

These 2 sunset images are from the same amazing sunset, captured on a clear evening on First Beach, in Olympic National Park. I have never experienced such a colorful display without any c louds. These are both composite HDR captures to try to get the variety of colors in seen in the sky into a captured image.

Feedback very welcome, and thanks for looking!

Edit - managed to get the images to show up properly...

Sorry about all the re-posting and editing.

I like these. I have not seen a lot of good shots from 1st Beach but these two are quite nice. The atmospherics and the relatively calm waters make a nice combination for both of these images. I like the glow in the first one with the beach reflections.

Hey Mike,

I am with Alan, I have not seen many good photos from First Beach. I have skipped shooting there because of that, with a preference for Second Beach. But I can see I need to make a stop there now.

Very nice work with these Mike. Your processing looks really nice, though I might back off just a hair on the saturation on #1. Not a lot, but just a bit as the orange glow on the horizon seems just a little too much. But you were there, so you would know best. :)

You sure caught a great sky there for that first one and the wet sand reflection makes it sing.

Kyle - appreciate the input. Unfortunately, that shot is one of the few that I did not really crop much at all. I will have to go back and look at the rest of the captures from that shoot - perhaps there is something there I could look at with more foreground.

Thanks bunches,
