This is a timelapse from the Perseid Meteor Shower. I captured this out at Joshua Tree National Park. I made a concerted effort to find a straight spot in the road that goes through Joshua Tree to hopefully eliminate lights from cars. I was not successful it seems.... one of these days. I did...
On my way back from Colorado to California, I went by way of New Mexico, Arizona and then California. I managed to stop by in Sedona just as Jeffrey was meeting with Doug, so I had an hour or two to hang out with them by Red Rock Crossing before I left to go up to the Grand Canyon for my first...
Well, this from back in August at the Devil's Tower in Wyoming. I had taken my 9 year old granddaughter up with me so we could watch and capture the Perseids Meteor shower. It seemed like most of the meteors were away from Devil's Tower on that night, but after going through them, I found enough...
I ran up to the Devil's Tower with my oldest Granddaughter to capture the Perseids Meteor shower over Devil's Tower. After shooting the sunset, I found a spot which was a pullout on the road that goes up to the Tower that would suit the bill. I wanted to be able to shoot next to the Jeep so that...

I went up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains in California to shoot the Perseids Meteor shower last Saturday night. And this is just after it got dark and is one of my first shots I took. Until the clouds got a big thicker later, the meteors where powerful streaks of...
So the Perseids Meteor Shower is peaking this weekend and it coincides with a new moon.
Anyone have plans to go shoot it?
Glacier Point in Yosemite is my go to spot, but with the wildfires that's not an option. So far I am thinking Joshua Tree or Trona Pinnacles for myself, and probably on Aug...

2. There is a short window to capture it unfortunately because the moon is 3/4 full and rises at 11pm. Once the moon rises it will wash out 50% of the stars, so will you...
