north cascades

I flew my drone from the end of the plowed road on Hwy 20 last week when I was up there to ski. This is looking back west to Diablo Lake, Colonial Pk. and Paul Bunyans Stump behind. 2 rows of 3 pano.

Ruby Mountain is just off Hwy 20 in WA with commanding views of the North Cascades. In the winter it is a 5500 ft. climb to the summit, with lots of steep trees to navigate before you get to the fun upper open slopes. My friend Jerry and I hadn't done it yet so headed up yesterday hoping for ok...

I went over Hwy 20 in northern WA to catch the last of the larch color. I did see some, which I'll post later, but the highlight was catching sunrise with my drone on the Liberty Bell group of peaks at Washington Pass.

I was about to archive a folder of shots from a drive over Hwy 20 through the North Cascades. I saw this shot, which I had passed over for a wider view. This morning I worked on it and cropped in a lot to focus on the angles and layers.

The words of this good ole Stones tune were playing in my head as I hiked down from an overnighter at Sibley Pass in the North Cascades this week. I'd hauled my Sony A7rII, 3 lenses, extra batteries, and my RX100 as a back-up, up a hot bug infested trail hoping to do a stary night time-lapse...

I was disappointed to have fire haze obscuring the peaks last night after carrying my camera, tripod, and three lenses up a hot 3000+ ft. elevation gain trail, fighting biting flies the whole way. This is a 3 shot pano looking north to Mt. Baker that I managed to process with a lot of work.
