    Two icy images from Iceland

These days, it is very popular to show the fire side of Iceland, for those lucky enough to be able to travel there to photograph the new volcano. Being hard for me to travel there now, I thought I’d show the icy side of it with a couple of images from my archives. 236 sec, f/11, Hasselblad...

    Cold as Ice

I am double posting today! Ha! This woman at the Chamber in Craig, CO was talking about how this one road we may not be able to get past because it was closed. She had one of the other gals call to find out and they said it was open... I think she had her roads mixed up as the road to this...

    Argentiere Glacier

I took this on a crazy day telemark skiing in 1980 in very icy conditions near Chamonix France. I visited for Christmas skiing but snow conditions were terrible. I took a bad fall when I was on a cat track back at the ski area and broke a finger.

    Avalanche Sequence

I just posted a pano taken from the summit of Keyes Pk. in the Cascades near my house on my birthday a few years ago. Then I remembered the cool avalanche that I watched take place just below me that morning. I had my camera out and ready for other shots so was lucky to capture a sequence. This...

    Jokulsarlon at sunrise

The glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon is a classic spot in Iceland, for tourists and photographers alike. And for a reason: it is just amazing to see the multi-coloured icebergs slowly and majestically leaving the lagoon heading towards the sea, where they will dissolve forever. Hasselblad X1D...

    Single

Just a single branch in the middle of a snow storm in New Mexico. I got this about a month ago and liked the look of the branches. It borders on Minimalism perhaps? All comments are welcome, Jim

Mt. Shuksan & Frozen Tarn at Sunrise

It was a cold morning at Artist Point that put a nice skin of ice on the tarns, leaving just enough water for a reflexion.

    Blue Ice, Iceland

I love ice, and Jokulsarlon is a goldmine of inspiration, always different, always interesting. Sometimes you have very few, sparse ice diamonds, sometimes you have an abundance of shapes and masses to work with :) 3 seconds of exposure with my Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 30mm and...

Arial perspectives on a melting mountain lake. Interesting to see the soft looking focus on the melting areas and sharp on the dry snow.

    Icy Blast Part 2

This is from Wednesday in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) in Colorado at Dream Lake. This is the view I had looking to the East, no mountains that way but there was this awesome curving cloud that just never seemed to move. It almost had a Lenticular cloud feel to it. Even before the sun...
