I mentioned I'd get specific with some icons once in a while, so this week's focus is that iconic rock in Yosemite: Half Dome. Let's see what you have!
Here is one from the valley:
And here is one from Glacier Point
This was from 2 months back in Yosemite National Park. High water in the Merced, it was getting later in the afternoon and I liked the way the light was hitting Half Dome, and also how the reflection was a constantly changing abstract.

From last month back in Yosemite. This is from sunrise at Tunnel View. Shooting sunrise isn't always easy there as you end up shooting into the sun and it means everything is in shadow. Typically the area between El Capitan and Half Dome always ends up with a blue cast in contrast to the warm...

I will always remember my first big wall climb when I look up at Half Dome's NW face.
Here's a recent view of Half Dome at sunset, a little earlier in the evening and without the leaves in the foreground of the shot I posted last week.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Watching the sunset in Yosemite is an unforgettable experience. As the red glow of the sun climbs up the face of Half Dome and Clouds Rest it's a sight that can catch your breath. Here from Tunnel View is where I captured the action. This is an archive shot I just processed.

While waiting for darkness and my chance to capture the moonbow, I was forced to relax and watch this view at sunset. Sometimes shooting landscapes is just too painful...
One of my favorite places to shoot in Yosemite is Cooks Meadow and getting reflections of Half Dome in the pond and marsh area. This was from this last spring.

There was some nice moody clouds in Yosemite a few week back, and I really liked how this ring of clouds was on the top of Half Dome but not covering the tip. So often if the top of Half Dome gets covered the distinctive tip is covered too.

This is from an evening a few years ago where I arrived in Yosemite after dark, left before dawn, and shot icons my moonlight in between. It is a blast having these spots to myself.
Any thoughts are welcome.
I ran up to Yosemite early in the week as I saw the forecast was for a late afternoon snow storm with an early morning clearing storm. This was from the clearing storm, and the clouds were acting like a curtain in the sky momentarily pulling open and showing a peak or two and then within seconds...
This was a special morning that was mainly overcast at sunrise, but I stuck around for a bit which allowed the sun to break though an unseen hole in the clouds as it was rising to back light a small patch of clouds passing over the face of Half Dome.

This was from last week in Yosemite as I was after fall colors. Normally at sunset the face of Half Dome gets lit up really cool as most of you have seen I am sure. On this evening it did light up at the very beginning when the whole face was lit, then the sun must have gone behind a cloud on...
From last week in Yosemite, this was the day before I met up and shot there with @Jim Sanderson . I drove all night and got there shortly before sunrise, I settled on the Sentinel Bridge to shoot Half Dome with the fall colors along the banks. There wasn't any clouds I could see, but as the sun...
