This is a small finger off the Myakka River in Florida. Word was alligators like to hang out in this shallow merky waters. I ran into a park ranger here and she said that there were quite a few about a mile up stream. But as you can see by the under growth in this image that going much farther...

A quick trip to FL was highlighted by a visit to Kennedy Space Center. The lighting at the Saturn V Center was dark with mixed lighting, and made for some wonky colors, which originally convinced my to try this as a B&W composition. I really liked it much better once I saw it that way. I decided...

On this day in Feb '08, a control burn by the forest service a few miles inland, mixed smoke into the thin morning fog and almost did away with the horizon. Only the low islands across the bay gave it any definition.
