Freshly fallen snow during the night made for awesome cold conditions during the morning. This is one that caught my eye in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado a few weeks ago.

It was cold, very cold with snow all around in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison as I set up to capture the night sky. Clouds were forecast to roll in about 3am, which was the time the Milky Way was set to rise about the same time. Which would win? The Clouds or the Milky Way? Or would it be a...
This is from this last year, from the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. It makes me want to get a fisheye so that I can get wide enough to get the canyon and some decent amount of sky in 1 shot. :)
This is one shot, but I sure wished I had more of the sky in the image...
Haven't been to the North Rim of the Black Canyon? Not sure if you want to go visit it?
Well check out this video then as I check out each of the viewpoints for you, and you can then decide that "Yes" you should go visit it.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the south rim is where 95% of all visitors go from my guess. I have been there dozens of times now, and have posted photos from their previously. It's a super cool place!
You guys know I love night skies whether it's just the stars or the Milky Way too. While...
Black Canyon of the Gunnison
We tramp ascending trails,
scant footsteps from the canyon rim,
we look ahead and up,
no need for looking down.
The canyon stares at us
with no flutter of interest,
no ripple of welcome.
The canyon needs no rim walkers
to mark the edge of sky,
it needs no halfling...
I need to have Tim come and give me cool names for my photos like he does for his. :)
This is from last month in the Black Canyon. Amy came by and met me about midnight I think to shoot the Milky Way, but this was from before she got there while the Milky Way was lower in the sky.
It's a 3...
From Black Canyon of the Gunnison a few weeks back. It had snowed that night and this is a late sunrise has the sun had to burn through a few clouds. The colors got a bit more saturated, but I think that's from the snow melting on the cliff walls and getting them wet. This is from the Painted...
This is at the Painted Wall view point in Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Amy came up late, about midnight to meet and shoot a bit of the Milky Way. I had been shooting at the Cross Fisures view point, but was switching to the Painted Wall view point when Amy got there. The only bad thing with the...
I was at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado for a couple of days just a few days ago. I was at the Fissure Overlook as my scouting had this overlook as the best place to get the Milky Way. So my intention was to shoot the sunset there and then on into twilight to get some ground images...
Driving back down from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado there is an area that has lot's of ranches and farm lands. Even though the sunset and long past, these clouds started to glow with color. I liked the fence line and the field so I pulled over and got my tripod and gear back out...
Here is another one from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. It had been snowing and it was cold, but the sunset sure was fun!

Last Tuesday I went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. My goal was to see if it was worth visiting in the winter time as I had only shot it in the summer and fall. In the winter you can only drive to the Visitor Center because they don't plow the roads beyond that. It was close to...
While at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado I was off exploring some compositions away from the actual view point location and found this. For a pre fall color theme, I should have cropped out the green leaves I guess and will do a version either from this one or one of my other shots...
After a couple of weeks of shooting Wildflowers in Colorado last month, I took a slight break and diversion over to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. I had never stopped here before because all of the photos I had seen of it were extremely boring and bad if I can be so bold. I didn't think there...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
