So here in CO we got hit with our first blast of winter yesterday. My wife Claudia and i had managed to get up to the high country this past weekend though, for a last chance at some of the changing leaves up here in the northern part of the state. We stayed the night in Breckenridge and tooled...
3 of us newly minted FW members were in this relatively locally located state park a few years ago (long before FW was a thing), and happened to catch the trees in a pretty sweet display. I have been to this location a number of times in the fall, and it almost never disappoints. It is also not...
Well we have had some examples of ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) posted here in the past, but it was @Ken Rennie that pushed me over the edge and caused me to make sure that when I was in Colorado a few weeks back shooting fall colors that I try to do it finally. So here are 3 that varied...
While shooting in Colorado on CR 7 in the San Juan Mountains not far from Ridgway, the sunset turned epic in pretty short order. While I had shot the clouds with Mt Sneffel in the composition, I couldn't ignore this hillside just to the left. While there are no mountains in view at this angle...
While up in Bishop last Sunday to meet up with a bunch of the FocalWorld members, I had the chance to shoot a bit. I rarely shoot tighter and close in shots, but for once I remembered.

As I was leaving Colorado for New Mexico and driving down Hwy 550 between Silverton and Durango I can across many cool stands of aspen, this was one area where I decided to stop and explore a bit before heading into the desert. I have 3 different compositions involving this particular twisted...
One of the fun parts about driving down the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Hwy 550 and the section between Silverton and Durango is amount of Aspen trees and other trees lining the roadway. Great shots can be taken simply by pulling over and shooting along the roadway.
In this one it had...
I've posted few aspen trunks pictures here before, this is the last one I shot in that series and my personnel favorite. In this shot I was lucky to frame both aspen leaves and ground glow.
I took this on Sunday up in Bishop as we had a our last and final Fall Color FocalWorld meet up. This was on the way up to South Lake out of Bishop, we had all been stopping and shooting on the road up and finally grouped up and stopped in this area. I had jumped across the rocks to get to the...
Last fall on day 1 the weather was good at Maroon bells (met Jim Fox there), next day was this! Can't complain, mother nature always gift us with something!
Sept '08
My brother finally got me up to Aspen. The first day there we went up to Maroon Lake late in the afternoon.
Storm clouds were dropping a dusting of snow in the higher elevations. With the fall color fairly well along, though not at peak, yet, I really liked the contrasts.
C&C most welcome.
