I'd gone on a rather unsuccessful afternoon drive up into the mountains near my house with my wife yesterday to work on flying my drone. The weather was unsettled, so I was hoping for some dramatic clouds, but got sprinkled on at the spots where I stopped, so cut it short (one of the limitations of drone photography). Just before making dinner I noticed some color coming into the clouds above our house. Our suburban neighborhood view is normally very limited by trees and houses, but not with a drone. Within minutes I was outside, taking off and zooming straight up to shoot panoramic views of the nearby lake, Puget Sound, and the Cascades! Shot RAW and stitched in ACR.

Wow - drones have gone a long ways past just being a toy. I like the shot and the application here.

Very nice, allows far more opportunities than you would otherwise have.

    Hey Jim,

Now that's a fun way to spend your evening. This is a cool looking pano.

What camera does the drone have that you are able to edit it in raw? I thought a lo of those only output photos in jpg?

Thanks for all the comments. Jim, this is a DJI Mavic 2 Pro. It has a Hasselblad camera (not sure what that means other than consultation) with a 1" sensor. It also has full manual control with f stops from 2.8-11.

Do you have full manual control over the settings from the ground while the drone is airborne?

I think I have to go empty my drool pan again now.

Alan, you can control all the camera functions from the ground while flying. DJI is the current leader in drone tech. and have been at it for a while. Their software is mature and functional, although there is a lot of info on the screen while flying so it takes some getting used to. You can always stop and let the drone hover in place while you change settings, but you don't want to waste too much time doing so with a 30 min. max flight time (I always head back to land soon after getting the 30% battery warning).
