Back in the 80s I spent a month in Kenya on a climbing trip where I ended up soloing Mt. Kenya after my partner had to go down due to acclimatization issues. I spent the night on the summit just to watch sunset & sunrise. We ended the trip with a low budget self-directed safari in the Maasai Mara, camping out in the guarded campgrounds near the fancy hotels. Click here to read an article I had published in Rock & Ice magazine. One of the great (and cheap ~$800 total from Germany where I was living) adventures of my life.

    Hey Jim,

This is a really good Travelogue! Entries like this is why we set up this specific forum. It's nice get the extra comments, and also the wider variety of photos then you could have had if this had been put in the Landscape or maybe the Wildlife forums.

This makes for some very good reading, and it sounds like you did have an adventure of a lifetime! I have scrolled up and down this several times already enjoying the views.

OMG the baby smiling at you with the others in the background, I think that is my favorite of the group. How Darling is that. You must have had a blast on this trip!

Thanks for all the comments and daily feature Jim. I've always worked hard on all my climbing trips to document them, even more so on this one. I always put together a slide show to share at the school where I was teaching, and for climbing friends and clubs. Funny to contrast though how the rolls of film I shot seemed like a lot (~20 as I remember) compared to the hundreds of shots I sometimes take in a day shooting digital!
